Facebook is a cool way to stay connected to friends and acquaintances and as a way to make new contacts. It's a small world after all, and by using Facebook we can really test the theory that there are only six degrees of separation. Have you heard of that before? Like, we are only 6 people away from everyone on earth. Am I making any sense at all? Tell me what you think, please.

I think that it's important for educators to know how this stuff works because for students it's as common as talking on the telephone, and we want to understand how their brains work, right?
I believe that Facebook would be a great place for a classroom site (as a way for students and parents to connect), I think. I will need to explore social networking further before coming to a final decision.
It is my opinion that teachers need to be professional when managing their own personal sites. That is, I believe it is inappropriate for teachers to invite students or to accept students as their friends on these sites.
I have to go now, I must get back to Facebook, uh, I mean to work.

You think we are six degrees away from Kevin Bacon? I am sure I know someone, who knows someone, who knows a friend of someone, who has a brother, and the brother has an ex-girlfriend that might know Kevin Bacon. Is that even six?
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think we're less than 6 people away from someone. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteI like how on Facebook it shows you what friends you have in common with someone... it's crazy to find out who is friends with who. The world is a small place!
